Today it is Friday!
It has been a really hard week. My K had an operation on Monday night. He had his tonsils and adenoids removed and 2 myringotomies (ear drums nicked and fluid withdrawn) and I had expected it to be a fairly easy procedure, well, easy in comparison to the other operations he has had to have in the past. This operation was his 21st anaesthetic, he was so brave beforehand however, he became extremely distressed in the theatre when he saw the mask and became hysterical. I was so proud of him and his braveness beforehand as he knew what was coming and he knew he was going to hate it. We bought him a Mariocart Wii game prior to the operaton and told him he could have it as soon as he had come home from hospital so he was looking forward to that the whole time and trying to keep his mind off the pending operation.
His tonsils were abnormally large and had grown down into his deeper throat and were very hard to remove, the surgeon said. This scared me a but it does happen sometimes. We also have been looking at getting his tonsils out for some time so maybe they were that big because they have been enlarged and causing problems for too long a time.
The private hospital didn't seem like a private hospital to me as it wasn't very comfortable, with no where to put overnight bags, no shelves etc in the room, nowhere for parents to make a tea or coffee or even get a water, and the shower in the room which was supposed to be for the parents to use also was full of therapeutic equipment which had nowhere to go if one had a shower. I just sprayed perfume and deodorant and waited until the next day when we returned home to have a shower.
He has been on pain relief all week and today has woken up alot more recovered, is happy and eating and drinking well.
