This Boy has Far to Go - Melbourne Gossip - On the News Today

Andrej Pejic - World Famous Femimodel

Who ever said that those who come from Broadmeadows in Melbourne will never get anywhere in life must be eating their words these days.  Such sayings are quite common in Melbourne, something I have never become accustomed to.  When I first arrived here, I found it fascinating that people wanted to know:

1.  which suburb you grew up in Melbourne; (did not apply to me as I come from a wheat and cattle property in the middle of nowhere in rural Queensland); and
2.  which school you went to: (again, did not affect me much as I went to a local school with a long Aborginal name that nobody has ever heard of.  There were no "St. whatever's" or "Such and Such grammar" school endings there for me to be assessed with) and then you would be assessed as to social desirability.  I was hard to classify for these people, which was and still is to a degree, a great relief.

Eddie Maguire has smashed the social cynicism of people who hail from Broadmeadows.

Eddie Maguire
Eddie Maguire is an Australian television presenter and businessman known for his long association with Australian rules football.  McGuire is the current president of the Collingwood Football Club and the current host of Channel Nine program Millionaire Hot Seat and Million Dollar Money Drop Australia. He is also the host of The Hot Breakfast With Eddie McGuire on Triple M Melbourne.

Here is another boy, who obviously has far to go in this world, who also came from Broadmeadows or "Broady" as people call the suburb here.

Andrej Pejic, Melbourne's latest success model.

This boy has become a world famous model and has come back to Australia and is back in his home suburb of Broady staying with his Mum, as he is modelling for a big Melbourne event today.

Here is the article from the Melbourne newspaper today "The Age";

Other Broady boy walks black carpet Suzanne Carbone

March 30, 2011

INTERNATIONALLY famous Broady boy Andrej Pejic, the ''femiman'' model, will walk the same black carpet as local hero Eddie McGuire at Myer's reopening for 500 VIPs in the Mural Hall. Pejic is staying in Broady with mum Jadranka and while friends joke that the world's 11th ranked model on models.com who has paraded Jean-Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs is dying to shop at the Essendon Airport DFO, there's no need. Arthur Galan has made him a suit for today's appearance at Myer's Salon champagne bar with Jennifer Hawkins and for tomorrow's gala he'll wear a black sequinned tuxedo by Yeojin Bae. Myer chief Bernie Brookes had wanted Lionel Richie to perform, but the singer wanted $350,000-plus for a few tunes. Hello? Is that how much you're asking for? Richie recorded All Night Long with Guy Sebastian for the Queensland and Christchurch disaster appeals but showed no charity towards Myer during negotiations. Sebastian will still perform, so will Ben Lewis, the new ''Phantom'' in Love Never Dies, and a cabaret troupe comprising Rhonda Burchmore, Patti Newton, Val Jellay, Collette Mann and Denise Drysdale. A Bourke Street neighbour called David Jones may be interested to know that Sass & Bide designers Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke will make their first appearance for Myer since the defection.

He really does remind me of a certain pop star from the early 80s.  Does anyone remember this person?  He was a one hit wonder when I was at high school.  He was truly outrageous for his time!

It is also interesting that Sass & Bide will do their first Myer "Do" today.  Exciting Times.

Here is another Melbourne boy who doesn't come from Broadmeadows and also hasn't smashed any social barriers to date.

Warwick Capper.

What is it with the blonde hair and the plastic surgery with these ageing Melbourne boys?

Here is another one who doesn't live too far away from this very blog's computer of origin.
